Basketball Game Preview: Laurel Spartans vs. Bowie Bulldogs

Laurel is 0-10 against Bowie since January of 2016 but things could change on Friday. The Laurel Spartans just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Bowie Bulldogs at 7:15 p.m. One thing working in Laurel's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 13 matchups.

On Thursday, Laurel didn't have too much trouble with Flowers as they won 71-53. The victory continues a trend for the Spartans in their matchups with the Jaguars: they've now won three in a row.

Meanwhile, Bowie suffered their closest defeat since December 29, 2023 on Thursday. They fell just short of Parkdale by a score of 48-46.

Bowie has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 11-7 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.8 points over those games. As for Laurel, their win bumped their record up to 16-2.

Laurel couldn't quite finish off Bowie in their previous matchup back in December of 2024 and fell 49-47. Can Laurel avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
