Clovis North faced Buchanan in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Broncos blew past the Bears 9-3. The Broncos have beaten the Bears the last nine times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Bears has come to flipping the script.

Jocelynn Gonzalez made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over six innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 20 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Clovis North let Jaelyn Clark and Riley Grealy run wild. Clark went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Grealy went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most hits Clark has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Brynn Gentry, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Clovis North's win bumped their record up to 18-5-2. As for Buchanan, their loss dropped their record down to 20-8.
