Basketball Game Preview: Roswell Hornets vs. Lugoff-Elgin Demons

The Roswell Hornets and the Lugoff-Elgin Demons will round out the year against one another at at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Roswell's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five contests.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Roswell turned things around against Alpharetta on Tuesday. They managed a 60-55 win over the Raiders.

Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 27-27 at halftime, Lugoff-Elgin was not quite Camden's equal in the second half on Friday. They fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 48-46. The matchup marked the Demons' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Roswell will need focus on slowing down Jernigan Williams, one of several Lugoff-Elgin players who made an impact when they last played. He almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaleb Long, who posted nine points.

Even though they lost, Lugoff-Elgin smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in six consecutive contests.

Lugoff-Elgin moved to 7-3 with that loss, which also ended their six-game winning streak. As for Roswell, their victory bumped their record up to 5-6.
