Softball Recap: Denver East Extends Winning Streak to Two

Denver East won against George Washington on Tuesday with 17 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Angels beat the Rangeview Raiders by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 17-5. Considering the Angels have won six games by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Grace Faris was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed four innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Reese Larson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Hailey Carson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Denver East kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are 7-3 when they post 11 or more hits.

The win made it two in a row for Denver East and bumps their season record up to 8-11. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.0 runs over those games. As for Rangeview, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-16-1 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Denver East will challenge rival Denver North at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Rangeview is set to take on their familiar foe Northfield at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
