Softball Recap: Tough Loss for Howard

Howard extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 10 on Thursday, dropping them down to 0-8. They came up short against the Troup County Tigers, falling 24-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-0 on Thursday.

As for Troup County, they have now won 10 of their last 11 games at home. That run has powered them to a 9-2 record this season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average this season.

For Troup County's part, Kaylee McAllister looked comfortable as she struck out 6 batters over 3 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kaylee Cardwell, who went a perfect 4-for-4 while logging 7 RBIs, 4 runs, and 2 triples. The seven RBIs were her most this season. The team also got some help from Olivia Damron, who went 2-for-3 while posting 5 RBIs, 2 runs, and 1 stolen base.

Coming up, Howard will take on Northside at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Troup County, they will face off against Baldwin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
