Baseball Preview: Moreno Valley Vikings vs. Heritage Patriots

The Moreno Valley Vikings will challenge the Heritage Patriots at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Moreno Valley proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by seven) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past JW North 4-2. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Huskies recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

E. Alferez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, JJ Vazquez was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

Moreno Valley hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as JW North struck out eight times.

Meanwhile, Heritage had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They never let the Hawks get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory.

Not much got past Wade Johnson, who gave up just three hits to keep Citrus Hill off the board. Johnson has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

Heritage's win bumped their record up to 18-8. As for Moreno Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 16-9.
