Basketball Recap: East Wake Warriors vs. Clayton Comets
East Wake was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a 49-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Clayton Comets. The Warriors lost against the Comets in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 79-48 score last time.
Despite the loss, East Wake still got an impressive performance from Norman Eleby, who went 5-for-8 en route to 12 points and six boards. Eleby also grabbed two steals, marking his first of the season. Caden Midgette was another key player, putting up 14 points and eight rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Clayton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Will Greiner, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 12 boards. Those 12 rebounds gave Greiner a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Khaleil Walters, who posted 16 points and eight boards.
East Wake's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Clayton, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.
East Wake didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 73-36 defeat against Chapel Hill on the 28th. As for Clayton, they have also already played their next game, a 61-50 victory against Harnett Central on the 1st.
