Basketball Recap: East Wake Takes a Loss

East Wake was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They fell 49-39 to the Clayton Comets. The Warriors lost against the Comets in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 79-48 score last time.

When it comes to explaining why East Wake lost, don't look at Norman Eleby. Despite the final result, he went 5-for-8 en route to 12 points and six boards. Eleby also grabbed two steals, marking his first of the season. Caden Midgette was another key player, putting up 14 points and eight rebounds.

East Wake's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Clayton, their victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 1-3.

Looking ahead, East Wake will take on Chapel Hill at 12:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Clayton, they will face off against Harnett Central at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Comets will be up against the Trojans' rather soft defense (which has allowed 68.25 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
