Baseball Recap: Bryant Owls vs. Academy of American Studies Eagles
It was a Battle of the Birds when Bryant duked it out with Academy of American Studies on Wednesday. The Owls fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 6-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-2 last Wednesday.
Christian Cepin put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 14 batters over 5.1 innings while giving up five earned runs off six hits. What's more, he gave up only two walks, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
Cepin wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Chris Capelo, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Another was Francisco Medrano, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI.
This is the second loss in a row for Bryant and nudges their season record down to 1-2. As for Academy of American Studies, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 4-0.
Coming up, Bryant will head out on the road to challenge Edison Vo-Tech at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Academy of American Studies has already played their next contest (against the Owls), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
