Recap: Latta Vikings vs. Mullins Auctioneers
The Latta Vikings's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They fell to Mullins 45-39. Latta lost against Mullins in their previous head to head back in December of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 62-35 score last time.
Despite the loss, Latta still got an impressive performance from Shawniza Bethea, who scored 14 points along with seven steals. Bethea scored a full 35.9% of Latta's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Alazia Birch, who scored 15 points.
Latta has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for Mullins, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Latta will take on Lake View at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mullins won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Conway at 6:00 p.m. on January 4th.
