Basketball Recap: Jalen Pierre's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Colonial Forge over Massaponax

Colonial Forge has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 54-50 heartbreaker at the hands of the Massaponax Panthers. While the Eagles didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Panthers 17-8 in the first quarter.

Colonial Forge lost on Friday despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jalen Pierre, who posted ten points along with seven boards and five assists. That's the most rebounds Pierre has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jayden Morris, who had 14 points.

Massaponax got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jaydon Brock out in front who put up eight points in addition to five boards and four blocks. Brock has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Collin Bowles, who scored 13 points.

Colonial Forge's loss dropped their record down to 12-5. As for Massaponax, they pushed their record up to 11-6 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.

Colonial Forge will square off against Mountain View at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Colonial Forge is facing Mountain View at the right time seeing as Mountain View is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Massaponax, they will face off against Brooke Point at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Brooke Point's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight matchups.
