Hickory Ridge has gone 6-1 against West Cabarrus recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Ragin' Bulls will head out on the road to take on the Wolverines at 6:00 p.m. Hickory Ridge is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.

On Thursday, Hickory Ridge earned a 6-1 victory over Legion Collegiate Academy. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Ragin' Bulls.

Embler Kristyn spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Elizabeth Baker, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, West Cabarrus was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against Independence, falling 15-1.

West Cabarrus saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cadyn Ready, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

Hickory Ridge pushed their record up to 10-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for West Cabarrus, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.

West Cabarrus' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Hickory Ridge has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.4 hits per game. It's a different story for West Cabarrus, though, as they've been averaging 9.7 hits. Given Hickory Ridge's sizable advantage in that area, the Wolverines will need to find a way to close that gap.

Hickory Ridge took their win against West Cabarrus in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 12-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Ragin' Bulls since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
