Deontay Greenberry chooses Fighting Irish over Alabama; Irish also land C.J. Prosise

Washington Union (Fresno, Calif.) junior Deontay Greenberry committed to the University of Notre Dame on Friday, according to the South Bend Tribune. Greenberry is ranked as one of the top wide receivers in California's class of 2012 by MaxPreps/CBS analyst Tom Lemming.

Greenberry, who is the ninth Irish recruit for 2012, listed the University of Alabama as his No. 2 choice.

The 6-foot-3, 187-pounder had a big junior year, catching 66 passes for 1,208 yards and eight touchdowns. He snared four scoring passes in three playoff games.

Greenberry, who runs 40 yards in a swift 4.44 seconds, told the Tribune, "Oh, man, you're going to see a lot of amazing grabs."

One day earlier, Notre Dame landed junior safety C.J. Prosise (6-2, 206), who had seven interceptions last fall for Woodberry Forest (Va.). He runs a 4.55 40 and finished second in the 100-meter dash in this year's state track meet. He also considered Penn State, Wisconsin and Virginia.
