Basketball Recap: Aubrey Rogers Picks Up Fifth Straight Win on the Road

Aubrey Rogers won the last time they faced Palmetto Ridge and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Aubrey Rogers Patriots enjoyed a cozy 50-36 victory over the Palmetto Ridge Bears. Given the Patriots' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 90th, while the Bears are ranked 232nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Aubrey Rogers' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Angelina Insana, who went 8 of 16 on her way to 20 points along with five boards and five steals. Insana has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 32 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Madelyn Hamisch, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten boards.

Aubrey Rogers smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in 11 consecutive matchups.

Several Bears players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Amberly Rios, who posted ten points. Naika Philistin was another key player, putting up a point along with five assists and five steals.

Aubrey Rogers' win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-3. As for Palmetto Ridge, their loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 8-6.

As for Palmetto Ridge, they will face off against Gulf Coast at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Gulf Coast's defense has only allowed 28.6 points per game this season, so Palmetto Ridge's offense will have their work cut out for them.
