Softball Recap: Tinley Park Beats Thornridge for Their Third Straight Victory

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Tinley Park had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Thornridge Falcons a 16-0 shutout. Considering the Titans have won 14 matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Aubry Haack looked comfortable as she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in May of 2024.

At the plate, Leah Cruz was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Megan Piotrowski, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Tinley Park hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 10-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

The victory (which was Tinley Park's third in a row) raised their record to 21-12. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Thornridge, they are on a 38-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-19.

Tinley Park has already played their next contest, an 8-2 victory against Oak Forest on the 30th. Thornridge does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
