Basketball Recap: Newark Central Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Newark Central had won two straight games and Yam'Bya Ndaw did his part to make it three on Monday. The Newark Central Blue Devils snuck past Marion P. Thomas with a 56-52 victory thanks in part to Ndaw, who posted eight points in addition to 11 boards and five blocks. Ndaw is crushing it when it comes to blocks: he's posted at least three every time he's taken the court this season.

The team also got some help courtesy of Drean Aikins, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 14 rebounds. What's more, he also racked up three blocks, the most he's had since back in January of 2024.

Marion P. Thomas lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Nairi Latham, who scored 24 points. Kaz'Heme Chitty was another key player, putting up 13 points and five boards.

Newark Central's win bumped their record up to 3-11. As for Marion P. Thomas, they now have a losing record at 7-8.

Newark Central has already played their next contest, a 55-51 victory against Columbia on the 29th. As for Marion P. Thomas, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 51-39 defeat against Global Studies on the 28th.
