Basketball Recap: Wednesday's Win Is River Ridge's 12th in Last 15 Outings

River Ridge won the last time they faced Capital and things went their way on Wednesday too. The River Ridge Hawks took down the Capital Cougars 68-54. Given the Hawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 120th, while the Cougars are ranked 271st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

River Ridge's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ryzen Nunez, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. Nunez's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Jacob Wendell was another key player, putting up 12 points in addition to six assists and five boards.

River Ridge is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 15 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. As for Capital, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-15.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. River Ridge will venture away from home to challenge North Thurston at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. North Thurston is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.8 points per game this season. As for Capital, they will challenge Timberline at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Timberline's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last ten contests.
