Softball Recap: Samson Sets Scoring Season-High Against Houston County

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Samson). They blew past the Houston County Lions 20-5 on Monday. The win continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won five in a row.

Ally Zorn and Ryleigh Jackson made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Zorn tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Jackson struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. At the plate, Zorn scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances, while Jackson scored two runs and stole four bases while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances. Those four stolen bases gave Jackson a new career-high.

In other batting news, Samson got a massive performance out of Rae-Lynn Crews, who scored three runs and stole seven bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Those three runs gave Crews a new career-high. Molly Glisson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.

Samson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .682. They are 3-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Samson's record now sits at 5-11. As for Houston County, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7.
