Baseball Game Preview: Xavier Knights vs. Cardinal Hayes Cardinals

The Xavier Knights will face off against the Cardinal Hayes Cardinals at 12:00 p.m. on Monday. Neither Xavier nor Cardinal Hayes posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Xavier took a seven-run defeat the last time they faced off against St. Peter's, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Knights' pitchers stepped up to hand the Eagles a 1-0 shutout on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Cardinal Hayes didn't have quite enough to beat Regis on Thursday and fell 3-2. The loss continues a trend for the Cardinals in their meetings with the Raiders: they've now lost four in a row.

Cardinal Hayes' defeat dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Xavier, their win bumped their record up to 4-5.

Xavier was able to grind out a solid victory over Cardinal Hayes in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 9-5. Do the Knights have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cardinals turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
