Baseball Game Preview: Haskell Haymakers vs. Morris Eagles

The Haskell Haymakers will square off against the Morris Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Haskell is returning to their home field after beating Porter on theirs, despite the fact Porter has dominated at home this season. The Haymakers put the hurt on the Pirates with a sharp 15-4 victory on Tuesday. Considering the Haymakers have won nine matchups by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Nevin Sheedy tossed a big game, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off only two hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March.

At the plate, Ryker Porter was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jack Petty, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3.

Haskell kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Morris posted their closest win since April 4, 2024 on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Roland 8-7. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

Morris' win bumped their record up to 5-16. As for Haskell, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

Everything went Haskell's way against Morris when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Haskell made off with a 12-3 victory. Do the Haymakers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
