Football Recap: Amherst Comes Up Short

Amherst was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss dating back to last season. They were beaten by the Leakey Eagles 68-18.

Mason Boatwright was a one-man wrecking crew For Leakey. as he rushed for 204 yards and three scores on only nine carries. Those 204 rushing yards gave Boatwright a new career-high. Aden Rhiver was another major influence, as he rushed for 37 yards and ran in a TD.

Amherst's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Leakey, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Amherst will welcome Dawson at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Leakey, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Heritage Christian at 7:30 p.m.
