Basketball Recap: Sleepy Eye Comes Up Short

Sleepy Eye was the 72-59 winner over Madelia when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Sleepy Eye Indians took a 76-72 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Madelia Blackhawks. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (67), the Indians still had to take the loss.

Sleepy Eye has also traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season. As for Madelia, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 22-2.

Looking ahead, Sleepy Eye will venture away from home to face off against Mountain Lake/Comfrey at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Sleepy Eye has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Madelia, they will face off against Springfield at 7:15 p.m. on Monday.
