Basketball Game Preview: Sun Prairie East Cardinals vs. Waunakee Warriors

The Sun Prairie East Cardinals will challenge the Waunakee Warriors on Saturday. Sun Prairie East knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine matches -- so hopefully Waunakee likes a good challenge.

Sun Prairie East is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They came out on top against Kettle Moraine by a score of 82-71. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Cardinals' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 35th, while the Lasers are ranked fifth).

Meanwhile, Waunakee had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.8 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. They walked away with a 66-58 win over the Wildcats.

Waunakee's record now sits at 22-5. As for Sun Prairie East, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season.

Sun Prairie East ended up a good deal behind Waunakee in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, losing 107-91. Can Sun Prairie East avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
