Basketball Game Preview: Altamont Longhorns vs. Panguitch Bobcats

The Altamont Longhorns will challenge the Panguitch Bobcats at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Altamont has struggled recently with seven defeats in a row, while Panguitch will arrive with five straight wins.

Last Saturday, Altamont was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 42-41 to Tintic.

Meanwhile, Panguitch beat Wayne 59-49 last Saturday.

Altamont better keep an eye on Mallory Henrie. She was instrumental in Panguitch's win, almost dropping a triple-double with 19 points, 20 rebounds, and nine assists. Henrie is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last nine games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tayt Miller, who went 5-for-10 on her way to 10 points.

Panguitch was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wayne only five assists.

Panguitch pushed their record up to 17-5 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.7 points over those games. As for Altamont, their loss dropped their record down to 4-19.

Altamont took a serious blow against Panguitch in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, falling 58-24. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Henrie, who almost dropped a double-double with 16 points and nine rebounds.
