Basketball Game Preview: Barbourville Tigers vs. Clay County Tigers

The Barbourville Tigers will take on the Clay County Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Monday, Barbourville lost to Corbin at home by a 78-62 margin. The Tigers have struggled against the Redhounds recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, Clay County entered their contest against Knox Central on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Clay County took a 76-70 hit to the loss column at the hands of Knox Central.

Clay County's loss ended a 14-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 16-5. As for Barbourville, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-8-1.

Barbourville was able to grind out a solid win over Clay County in their previous meeting back in March of 2023, winning 68-57. Will Barbourville repeat their success, or does Clay County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
