Basketball Game Preview: Northeast Guilford Rams vs. Lexington Yellowjackets

The Northeast Guilford Rams will challenge the Lexington Yellowjackets at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Northeast Guilford had to skate by with only a three-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 33-point drubbing they dealt Atkins on Friday. Northeast Guilford simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Atkins 83-50. The Rams have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 contests by 21 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Lexington beat North Rowan 66-60 on Tuesday.

Lexington's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-9. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 80.6 points over those games. As for Northeast Guilford, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season.

Northeast Guilford was able to grind out a solid win over Lexington in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, winning 81-69. The rematch might be a little tougher for Northeast Guilford since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
