Baseball Game Preview: Catholic Memorial Knights vs. Xaverian Brothers Hawks

The Catholic Memorial Knights will challenge the Xaverian Brothers Hawks at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The timing isn't great for Catholic Memorial: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Xaverian Brothers has snatched up five consecutive wins on the road.

Catholic Memorial came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 11-1 to Bishop Hendricken. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Knights have suffered since May 26, 2024.

Meanwhile, while Xaverian Brothers put up some runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Boston College High. The Hawks sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-0 win over the Eagles.

Not much got past Paul McCarthy, who gave up just three hits and racked up nine Ks to keep Boston College High off the board. McCarthy has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jackson Morse was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times he's played. Alex Brinker also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Catholic Memorial's defeat dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Xaverian Brothers, their victory bumped their record up to 11-2.
