Softball Recap: Skyline Now 3-1 over Last Four Games

It may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Skyline ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They beat the Millbrook Pioneers by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 8-7. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 8-7 on Wednesday.

Mackenzie McIntyre tossed a big game, pitching eight innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off 12 hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Carleigh Baugher was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Meyah Jenkins was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one home run.

Skyline kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive games.

Skyline has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. As for Millbrook, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-3.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Skyline is set to face off against their familiar foe Handley at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Millbrook will square off against rival James Wood at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Pioneers 3.5, the Colonels 2.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
