Six Rivers recap Sept. 26, 2012

The biggest upset of the week belonged to River Ridge, who took down 376th ranked River Ridge, 14-7.

Black Hawk was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to fourth in Six Rivers. The Warriors vanquished Benton/Scales Mound IL 40-14 earlier in the week.

Josh Korte was the best wideout in the league this week as the Zephyrs lost to Black Hawk. Korte racked up two receptions for 84 yards. Darian Wright helped Benton/Scales Mound IL's passing attack out by catching five balls for 25 yards.

Caleb Yager was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 170 yards on 33 carries as Highland fell to Cory Milz's team. Nic Pierick also contributed to the rushing game with 34 yards on the ground.

Merik Meythaler put up the best numbers through the air as the Warriors beat Matt Wiederholt's team. He finished with 10 completions for 188 yards and four touchdowns. Meythaler's favorite target this week was Tyler Peterson, who caught three passes for 61 yards.

Black Hawk's Meythaler and Kyle Walters have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Six Rivers in both passing and receiving yards. Meythaler has thrown for 752 yards this season, while Walters, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 13 catches for 249 yards. Shullsburg's Nathan Houtakker leads the league in rushing yards with 607.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Cardinals take on Pecatonica/Argyle. Highland is currently in second, while the Vikings are in third.

Pecatonica/Argyle moved up to 167 from 259 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Larry Green's team climbed the ranks as a result of a 40-14 win over Belmont.
