Softball Recap: San Luis Obispo Tigers vs. Templeton Eagles
San Luis Obispo extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 10-8-1 in the process. They took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Templeton Eagles. If the Tigers were looking for revenge after losing 6-2 to the Eagles when the teams met back in March of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.
London Sutton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on five hits.
On the hitting side, San Luis Obispo saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sadie Huff, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.
As for Templeton, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games.
On Templeton's side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Tegan Jay gave up a run (which was unearned) on seven hits. Jay has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Whitney Moore was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one triple.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. San Luis Obispo will take on Cabrillo at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The last three games the Conquistadores have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Templeton, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Morro Bay at 4:30 p.m.
