Preview: Estero Wildcats vs. Mariner Tritons
The Estero Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Mariner Tritons at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Estero sitting on six straight wins and Mariner on nine (dating back to last season).
Last Friday, Estero didn't have too much trouble with Key West at home as they won 28-9.
Malik Allen continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 225 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.4 yards per carry. Allen is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played.
Meanwhile, Mariner gave up the first points last Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They managed a 27-23 win over North Fort Myers.
Mariner's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kaelan Davidson led the charge by picking up 100 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Estero's win was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 6-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 29.0 points per game. As for Mariner, their victory on Friday bumped their record up to 7-0.
Estero didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Mariner in their previous meeting back in September of 2021, but they still walked away with a 19-14 win. Will Estero repeat their success, or does Mariner have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
