Volleyball Recap: Challenger Extends Winning Streak to Three

Challenger entered their tilt with Long Shoals Wesleyan Academy on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Crusaders. That's more bragging rights for the Firebirds, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

While Challenger won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. The final score came out to 25-8, 25-7, 25-23.

Gabriela Ramirez-Soto paced Challenger's offense, picking up five kills. Ramirez-Soto got some help from Addison Jones and her 14 assists. Jones and Ramirez-Soto didn't slow down when it came to serving: they led the team with six apiece.

Challenger's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Long Shoals Wesleyan Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Coming up, Challenger will be playing in front of their home fans against Community Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Long Shoals Wesleyan Academy, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Pinnacle Classical Academy on the 5th.
