It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact St. Petersburg can now relate to. They fell just short of the Port Charlotte Pirates by a score of 3-2 on Saturday. The Green Devils' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

St. Petersburg actually scored more points across those five sets (102-99), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 25-19, 17-25, 16-25, 15-9.

Despite the defeat, St. Petersburg saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Maeve Overcast had 20 digs and two aces. Overcast has been hot, having posted ten or more digs the last five times she's played.

Among those leading the charge was Sammi Jo Colburn, who had ten digs and two aces.

St. Petersburg's loss dropped their record down to 17-6. As for Port Charlotte, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-16 record this season.

St. Petersburg does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Port Charlotte, they will square off against Braden River at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
