Softball Recap: East Comes Up Short

East extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 20 on Friday, dropping their season record down to 0-12 in the process. They came up short against the Harding Raiders, falling 8-2. The result was an unpleasant reminder to East of the 23-3 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

As for Harding, their win ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-11. They not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 3rd (when they won 20-9).

For Harding's part, Jayda Hayes was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Those three RBI gave Hayes a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Azarriah Phillips, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

Coming up, East will welcome Chaney at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Harding, they will head out to square off against Ursuline at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
