Softball Game Preview: Holy Names Academy vs. Roosevelt Roughriders

Holy Names Academy hasn't had much luck against Roosevelt recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. Holy Names Academy will welcome Roosevelt at 4:00 p.m. Holy Names Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.

Holy Names Academy barely beat Nathan Hale the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Holy Names Academy's pitcher stepped up to hand Nathan Hale a 10-0 shutout on Tuesday. Holy Names Academy hasn't had any issues with Nathan Hale recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Holy Names Academy got a massive performance out of Delanie Gilda, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four hits gave Gilda a new career-high. Ella McFarlane was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

Holy Names Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .448. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Nathan Hale only posted a batting average of .133.

Meanwhile, Roosevelt was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against Garfield, falling 15-3. That's two games in a row now that the Roughriders have lost by exactly 12 runs.

Holy Names Academy's win bumped their record up to 8-10. As for Roosevelt, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-8.
