Soccer Recap: Wakefield Finds Playoff Glory Versus Robinson

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Wakefield had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. While the 2-2 score might suggest a draw, it was the Warriors who were credited with the victory. The Wakefield Warriors got it done in the shootout by posting five goals to the Robinson Rams's four. The win was all the more spectacular given Wakefield's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 96th, while Robinson are ranked 18th).

Bruce Gonzales Cordova and Ricardo Perez-Justiniano scored both of Wakefield's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 11 goals.

Wakefield has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5-3 record this season. As for Robinson, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-5-2.

Wakefield wasted no time getting back out on the pitch and has already played their next matchup, a 2-2 victory against Gar-Field on the 13th. Robinson does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
