Softball Recap: East Makes It Five in a Row at Home

East extended their postseason success on Friday against Springfield. They came out on top against the Cougars by a score of 6-3. The victory continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won three in a row.

Ferri Ava made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mia Picciotti, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Lauren Maguire, who went 3-for-4 with three runs and one double.

East's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-8. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Springfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-6.

Looking ahead, East will challenge Greencastle-Antrim on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Vikings 2.8, the Blue Devils 2.3) so any runs scored will be well earned. Springfield does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
