The Whitefield Academy Wildcats will head out to challenge the Spencer County Bears at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
As a matter of fact, Whitefield Academy put up the most runs they have all season on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Southern as they made off with a 22-4 victory. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.
Gwynnie Franz was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with six stolen bases and three runs.

In other batting news, Allie Carter was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and four runs. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emma Pickett, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.
Whitefield Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .861. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Spencer County came into Wednesday's game having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Frankfort a 14-0 shutout on Wednesday. The Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by six runs or more this season.
Annalee Wood looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Brooklyn Hunt and Kaylen Newton did most of the damage at the plate: Hunt went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Newton went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Hunt is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Joslyn Waldridge was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
The victory (which was Whitefield Academy's third in a row) raised their record to 7-11. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Spencer County, their record is now 10-11.
Thursday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Whitefield Academy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .479. However, it's not like Spencer County struggles in that department as they've averaged .448. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
