Softball Recap: Conway Springs Continues Road Dominance on Monday

Conway Springs had won four straight on the road, but on Monday they bumped their record up to 8-5 to make it five. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-8 victory over the Medicine Lodge Indians. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cardinals have posted since April 1, 2024.

As for Medicine Lodge, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season. They have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

For Medicine Lodge's part, Adalynn Cope spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and six unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Claire Cunningham and Avalon Theis stepped up to the plate in a big way. Cunningham went 2-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Theis got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that Cunningham has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Emmy Gerdes, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

As of now, neither Conway Springs nor Medicine Lodge have any future games scheduled.
