Basketball Recap: Capitan Snaps Eight-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Fort Sumner/House, Capitan was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They secured a 57-51 W over the Navajo Pine Warriors. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Tigers' offense, which had struggled in the games prior.

Despite the defeat, Navajo Pine had strong showings from Tobias Ciccarello, who went 5 for 11 on his way to 14 points, and Dayshaun Chee, who posted two points in addition to ten boards and five assists. The dominant performance gave Chee a new career-high in boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Nari Slivers, who put up nine points.

Capitan's win ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-11. As for Navajo Pine, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Capitan will challenge Magdalena at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Navajo Pine, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Estancia on Saturday.
