Softball Recap: Heritage Takes a Loss

Heritage had lost five straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 9-10 to make it six. They lost 10-1 to the Kelso Hilanders. That's two games in a row now that the Timberwolves have lost by exactly nine runs.

Kylie Thomas made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with one home run.

As for Kelso, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games.

On Kelso's side, Kylie Killett spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on eight hits and racked up nine Ks. Killett has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kailanah Hagdahl, who fired off two home runs and six RBI while going 3-for-4. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Avery Mackin was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.

Heritage does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Kelso, they have already played their next contest, a 10-4 victory against Shelton on the 15th.
