Basketball Recap: Widefield's Win on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Two

Sierra came into Saturday's contest looking for another win against Widefield, but Trevin Stemler wouldn't allow it. The Widefield Gladiators walked away with a 60-53 victory over the Sierra Stallions on Saturday thanks in part to Stemler, who almost dropped a double-double with 26 points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points.

Another player making a difference was Tate Washington, who posted 12 points along with five assists and five boards. Thanks to that strong game, he now owns an excellent 45.6% shooting accuracy.

The win made it two in a row for Widefield and bumps their season record up to 8-10. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points over those games. As for Sierra, they dropped their record down to 2-16 with the defeat, which was their 11th straight on the road.

Coming up, Widefield will welcome Canon City at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Sierra, they will head out on the road to take on Mitchell at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Sierra is facing Mitchell at the right time seeing as Mitchell is stuck on a 17-game losing streak.
