Baseball Recap: Chula Vista Triumphs

Chula Vista posted their closest victory since May 2, 2024 on Monday. They had just enough and edged out the Campbell Hall Vikings 6-4. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Spartans.

Brandon Lucero made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Chula Vista is 3-0-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 3-4-1 otherwise. Lucero was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Noah Gomez was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Eric Zepeda, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.

Chula Vista's win bumped their record up to 6-4-2. As for Campbell Hall, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-3.

Chula Vista has already played their next matchup, a 7-2 defeat against Olympian on the 1st. As for Campbell Hall, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 8-6 loss against Bishop's on the 1st.
