Baseball Recap: Westmoor Comes Up Short

Westmoor and Crystal Springs Uplands pushed the score to 11-8 the last time they played Crystal Springs Uplands, but on Thursday defenses reigned supreme. The Rams fell just short of the Gryphons by a score of 3-1. The Rams haven't had much luck with the Gryphons recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Isaac Hong was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits.

On the hitting side, Westmoor saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Matthew Cote, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Westmoor now has a losing record of 7-8. As for Crystal Springs Uplands, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 16-2.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Westmoor will take on rival Priory at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Crystal Springs Uplands is set to square off against their familiar foe South San Francisco at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Gryphons 2.6, the Warriors 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
