Baseball Game Preview: Calvary Christian Academy Eagles vs. Westminster Academy Lions

Calvary Christian Academy is 9-1 against Westminster Academy since March of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Calvary Christian Academy Eagles will venture away from home to challenge the Westminster Academy Lions at 7:00 p.m. Calvary Christian Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.

Calvary Christian Academy was handed a seven-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Thursday. They skirted past Killian 8-7.

Preston Bielec made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Carlos Lugo was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Calvary Christian Academy: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-4-3 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Braden Rosenthal, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles.

Meanwhile, Westminster Academy narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past JC Bermudez Doral 3-2. That's two games straight that the Lions have won by just one run.

Westminster Academy's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Calvin Martin, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

Westminster Academy has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.33 runs across that stretch. Calvary Christian Academy's record is now 7-5-3.

Everything went Calvary Christian Academy's way against Westminster Academy in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Calvary Christian Academy made off with a 10-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Calvary Christian Academy since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
