Football Recap: George Washington Eagles vs. Parkland Trojans

George Washington kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They had to suffer through a 62-12 loss at the hands of the Parkland Trojans. The Eagles were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-6.

Although George Washington took the loss, they still got scores from Donnie Stephens and Aaron Armour.

Parkland found their leader in underclassman Tj Lawrence, who rushed for 116 yards on only 11 carries, and also picked up 69 receiving yards. Lawrence's longest reception was for an impressive 63 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per catch total.

George Washington will be defending their home-field for the first time for the first time when they go up against John Bartram at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully George Washington focused on turnovers this week as team gave up four on Friday. As for Parkland, they will venture away from home to face off against Freedom at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
