Softball Recap: Maynard Takes a Loss

If Maynard was riding high fresh off their 25-5 takedown of Ayer Shirley last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Tigers fell 7-4 to the West Boylston Lions on Friday. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Maddy Karlon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, Ryleigh Raschi made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Calleigh Currier was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.

Maynard's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for West Boylston, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-0.

Looking ahead, Maynard will face off against Tahanto Regional at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for West Boylston, they will square off against Gardner at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
