Softball Game Preview: William Campbell Generals vs. Buffalo Gap Bison

The William Campbell Generals are taking a road trip to take on the Buffalo Gap Bison at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

William Campbell is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Altavista as they made off with a 12-2 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Generals.

Peighton Francis spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, Lilly Puckette was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Estella Short, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Buffalo Gap, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They never let Rappahannock County get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory on Tuesday.

Buffalo Gap has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for William Campbell, they pushed their record up to 14-9 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.
