Baseball Game Preview: Neches Tigers vs. Centerville Bulldogs

For the second straight game, Neches will face off against Centerville. The Tigers will face off against the Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Neches' offense. They came up short against Centerville on Tuesday, falling 10-0. The match marked the first time this season in which the Tigers were not able to get on the board.

For Centerville's part, Hardy Brown made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Brown has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Kolt Larsen was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while going 2-for-3. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last seven times he's played. Wyatt Clede was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and two RBI.

The win was the fifth in a row for Centerville, bringing their record up to 8-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games. As for Neches, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season.
