Basketball Game Preview: Lee Academy Cavaliers vs. King's Academy Lions

The Lee Academy Cavaliers will take on the King's Academy Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Lee Academy is headed into Friday's contest hungry for a win as their strong season has now been derailed by two straight losses. They took a 45-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of Carolina Academy on Tuesday.

The losing side was boosted by Mazie Tomlinson, who posted seven points in addition to 26 rebounds and three steals. Tomlinson is crushing it when it comes to boards: she's pulled down at least nine every time she's taken the court this season. Jameson Collins was another key player, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds.

Even though they lost, Lee Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 11 consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, King's Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch two weeks ago as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They fell 33-21 to Thomas Sumter Academy.

King's Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Lee Academy, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-4.

Everything came up roses for Lee Academy against King's Academy when the teams last played two weeks ago, as the team secured a 54-22 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lee Academy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
